Zeitgeist films has won the rights to the French/Israeli coproduction Jellyfish, which will be slated for a March release. The film was directed by Israeli husband and wife team Etgar Keret and Shira Geffen (Geffen also wrote the screenplay).

Jellyfish weaves together the stories of three Tel Aviv women to illustrate modern Israeli life: Batya, a waitress; Keren, a troubled new bride; and Joy, a Filipino domestic worker.

Ah, more of the overlapping storyline trend (a la Babel, Crash, Magnolia). It's time for that type of film to get a genre name. "The interweaving mini-epic?" "A perspective drama?" "The I-can't-write-one-full-story-right-now-so-I'll-write-a-third-of-16-stories?" One of those should catch on.

Jellyfish won the Camera d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival as well as the Young Critics Prize and the French Artist and Writers Guild Award for best directors.
