You know, you'd think those cagey writers-on-strike would've used up all their wile and charm now that we've hit the holiday season, but they've come back again by purchasing the url, www.AMPTP.com. While not the real site for the Alliance of Moving Picture and Television producers, which is here, it is still an incredibly dumb move on their part.
Cause the Writers found out. And they're exploiting it to no end.
Hollywood Wiretap acquired the major reporting from the L.A. Times on the site's owner, Bill Davis, who was "approached" by someone when they found he owned the url. As for what's on the site, here's today's major entry:
December 10, 2007
We are heartbroken to report that despite our best efforts, including sending them a muffin basket, making them a mix CD, and standing outside their window with a boombox blasting Peter Gabriel songs, our talks with the WGA have broken down. Quite frankly, we're puzzled as to why this happened. We talked about it all the way home – after we walked into their hotel room, slapped our list of demands on the table and abruptly left the negotiating session – and none of us could figure out what went wrong.
Oh, you crazy writers.
