News > Vince Vaughn Swings Production Deal
Written by David Morgan
Vince Vaughn has made a two-year producing deal with Universal, according to
Variety, and the deal begins with three films that will act as starring vehicles for the actor.
The first is called Male Doula, which is a comedy based on Vaughn's idea that will be scripted by Dana Fox. If you don't know, a doula is someone who cares for a pregnant woman, so you can figure out where that's going.
Vaughn and Scott Stuber (producer of The Break-Up) are producing the other two projects. The first is an untitled comedy about couples "reinvigorating their marriages" at a camp written by Jon Favreau. The other is called Realtors, which is naturally enough a comedy about the dog eat dog world of real estate.
So it sounds like Vaughn is firmly planting his feet in the comedy biz. The only "serious" film in the immediate future is Sean Penn's Into the Wild. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does in David O. Russell's The H-Man Cometh, followed by the requisite leaked internet video of the two of them coming to blows. Vince Vaughn seems like a volatile guy, and Russell nearly got violent with Lily Tomlin and George "I'm really a nice guy despite being so handsome and outspokenly political" Clooney. Either Russell and Vaughn will kill each other or they'll become best friends. Those seem like the only two options.
