News > Universal to Tackle 'The Thing' Remake

Universal Pictures will bring  horror classic The Thing back to the big screen.   According to Variety, Matthijs Van Heijningen will direct the script being written by Ron Moore while David Foster will executive produce.

New project borrows heavily from the John W. Campbell Jr. short story "Who Goes There," the basis of the Carpenter film and 1951 Howard Hawks original "The Thing From Another World."

It is set in a Norwegian camp and chronicles how the shape-shifting alien was first discovered and overcame the inhabitants of that camp. Strike Entertainment's Eric Newman and Marc Abraham are producing.

This is so wrong. The Carpenter version is classic, and cannot be topped with some shitty pop stars of today. I can see it now, that fucktard Zac Effron as MacCready. Fuck you, Hollywood. Get AIDS and die. The 1982 version is still relevant and should not be tampered with.

Remakes and spilling out faster than shit and some have really tarnished the originals. For example the Halloween remake was not up to par with the classic original. The Thing is my favorite film of all time and even though Im curious to see what they could do, Im just as nervous. It would really depend on how it was written and directed. Most importantly would be who was cast. But NOTHING could touch that eerie and haunting music composed by Ennio Morricone. The Thing ROCKS!!!!!! (ftw)
