News > Uh-oh, Kevin Smith is Talking About Superhero Films Again ...
Written by: Noah Sanders
For those of you not in the know, Kevin Smith has an almost bi-yearly cycle he goes through. He starts talking about how he's tired of making conversation laden comedies and wants to branch out and do something different, something more visually dynamic that challenges him as an artist. He gets all excited, picks up some cool properties (Green Hornet?), talks the shit out of them, and then loses the balls and drops out of the cool projects and makes Jersey Girl. Seriously, everytime.
Right now, Mr. Smith is working on Zach and Miri Make a Porno (which just lost Rosario Dawson) before he jumps in to, possibly, work on his first horror film Red State. Obviously both these films aren't exactly visual wunderkinds as Smith told Slashfilm:
"I think that by that point, by my 10th film, I'll be ready to take on something that is very visually oriented. The 10th movie I think is going to be a
comic book movie - not 'The Green Hornet' though. There's something that we're kind of negotiating on right now which would actually be pretty cool. I don't know what the audience for it would be, but I would dig making it because I've always been a fan of the character. I can't say what it is though, because they haven't locked it in."
Man, he even mentioned Green Hornet …
It only takes a word to get the internet riled so the boys (maybe girls?) at Slashfilm have already posited the rumor that maybe Smith'll be working on the David Goyer Green Lantern-in-jail film Super Max. Smith wrote the first two story arcs of the comic book (one was great, one was eh, neither were as good as his opening arc on Daredevil) and has expressed interest in a film version of the character in the past.
But c'mon, we all know Clerks 3 is lurking in the wings, so little Keviny Wevin can retreat to it's bosomy frame when he gets scared.

It's = Its.
Good try, though.
Seriously: I really like Kevin Smith and i was the one that actually enjoyed watching "Jay and silent Bob strike back", so i kind of have a blind spot when it comes to his faults. Therefore i will simply wait and see what will come out of this.
