Man. What a sight this will be. Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Tyrese Gibson, of Transformers and 2 Fast 2 Furious fame, is set to star in the upcoming endurance race re-make, Death Race 3000. The film was originally made in 1975 and starred the then desirable team of David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone. The remake, which is currently in the pre-production stages, will star Gibson alongside Jason Statham and will be directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. Anderson has claimed that the flick will be a "faithful remake" of the original. It will drop sometime in 2008. Hmmm. Call me crazy, but I'm not a huge fan of action movie remakes… or remakes in general for that manner. Sure, the explosions get a bit bigger, the action a bit more exciting, but there's something about classic action movies that really can't be replicated, try as Hollywood might. Whatever. Tyrese Gibson is fine. I'm sure the movie will be very good, but you won't catch me there on opening night.
