At the end of the trailer, it tells you to google search 2012. When you do, you learn (if you weren't already aware) that the world is slated for some world changing event (some say apocalypse) according to the Mayan calendar, which ends December 21, 2012. Taking that "fact" and turning it into a disaster movie conspiracy theorists will probably love sounds like a recipe for a box office win.
