The Weinstein Co. will distribute Woody Allen's next romantic comedy Vicky Cristina Barcelona, starring Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson, Patricia Clarkson, Kevin Dunn, Rebecca Hall, and Chris Messina. The film is described by THR as "the tale of Vicky and Christina (Hall and Johansson), two Americans vacationing in the title's Spanish city, who become part of a chain of romances involving an artist (Bardem) and his nutty ex-wife (Cruz)."

Apparently there's some sort of "steamy menage a trios sequence between Bardem, Cruz and Johansson" that's making people talk, which on the one hand sounds so un-Woody Allen, but on the other hand, who can complain?

The Weinsteins have a history with Allen as this will be the sixth film of his they distribute. At Miramax they handled 1994's Bullets Over Broadway and they're currently presenting the public with Cassandra's Dream in a limited release.
