News > The Return of Savage Steve Holland
Written by David Morgan
Writer-director Savage Steve Holland, who brought us the classic John Cusack-starring comedy Better Off Dead…, the less classic Cusack comedy One Crazy Summer, and the even less classic Anthony Edwards comedy How I Got Into College is back to direct his first feature film in 18 years. He has been working in television since the late 80s, directing shows like Even Stevens, Lizzie McGuire, and Eek! The Cat.
Holland told the Hollywood Reporter that he expects the new film, The Big One 3, to function as sort of a third chapter in a trilogy along with Better off Dead, and One Crazy Summer (apparently disowning College?). The new film tells the story of a father who had a terrible 13th birthday party and goes to great lengths to make his son's birthday special.
Better Off Dead was just the right mixture of absurdity with standard romantic comedy schlock and I'm anxious to see if Holland still has it in him, despite being somewhat out of practice.

"This is based on a true events in Savage's life," Warren Zide (American Pie, Final Destination) spoke to a Hollywood Reporter. "When he was a kid, he had his 13th birthday party and the only one that showed up was a clown, and all that that guy did was hit on his sister."
It is rumoured only, and hoped for..that Cusack will play the father. No word on whether Cusack was in talks or if they've even approached him yet, as he has 3 projects currently lined up. Right now, The Big One 3 is planned to begin production this fall in New Orleans.
Warren Zide, who's producing, says "The world needs another Savage movie, done today for today's generation. This is classic Savage."
Awesome news!!
I new his sister, I can understand why the clown would do that:).
Its good to hear he will be back in film again.
