And now even more X-Men Origins: Wolverine casting news. Bearing in mind that the news came from a post on the SuperheroHype message boards, grains of salt should be kept handy.
The scoop is that Taylor Kitsch of NBC's Friday Night Lights series has signed a three-picture deal to play the mutant Gambit. His first appearance as the card-tossing character would be as a member of the rapidly-growing cast of the Wolverine solo flick.
Kitsch looks like a good visual match for Gambit, the comic book lothario with the mutant power to charge objects with kinetic energy, making them explode on impact. The character's appearance in the film may be tied to the Weapon X program that experimented on Wolverine, but nothing official has been announced.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is scheduled for a May 1, 2009 release.
