News > Taryn Manning Talks About Pseudo-Philip K. Dick Biopic

Written by David Morgan

Taryn Manning recently spilled some details to MTV about the upcoming Your Name Here, which has wrapped and is expected to be first shown at Sundance in 2008. Manning says that she plays Dallas star Victoria Principal, while Bill Pullman plays the lead, legendary science fiction author Philip K. Dick. Well, sort of.

Due to legal reasons the names in Matthew Wilder's drama had to be changed. Hence, Pullman's character is actually science fiction author William J. Frick, and Manning's character is named Nikki. Says Manning, "It is all kind of weird and bizarre - and I am a robot in it."

When Manning appears to Dick…er…Frick in what seems to be a dream, his sci-fi world invades his reality. “He’s infatuated with my character … she starred in that movie Earthquake, and he is obsessed with her even though he has a wife,” she said of one scene. “All around his office you see pictures of me. One day, he does a huge line [of cocaine], and the next thing you know he’s in the back of a limo, and there I am!”

The film is also compared to Cronenberg's Naked Lunch, because of its mixing of reality and fiction into a "drug-addled concoction." If it's done well enough, it sounds like it stands a chance of being the next cult classic.
