News > Tarantino Plans Longer "Death Proof" For Cannes

From Variety

Come May, "Death Proof" will be crashing into Cannes. The Tarantino half of "Grind House," which stars Kurt Russell as a deranged psycho who kills people with his car, will be extended and entered into the French film festival, Tarantino plans.

In previous interviews, Tarantino has mentioned "Death Proof" has random glitches and skipped frames, which he added to give the film the "Grind House" feeling, as well as to skip to the action and slim down the running time. Though purely speculation, these cut scenes seem to be where Tarantino will extend the cut to make it a stand-alone film

Tarantino's love affair with Cannes is not a new thing. "Pulp Fiction" won the top prize in 1994 and "Reservoir Dogs" and "Kill Bill: Vol. 2" were screened there. He was also the president of 2004's jury.

Rodriguez' "Planet Terror" might play at Cannes too.
