News > Stuart Beattie to rewrite G.I. Joe

Written by David Morgan

Variety is reporting that Pirates of the Caribbean scribe Stuart Beattie has been hired to write a new draft for the forthcoming G.I. Joe movie. Previous drafts have been written by Paul Lovett & David Elliot and Skip Woods. Beattie has already shown a certain aptitude for mindless but fun-filled adventure films (he only wrote Curse of the Black Pearl, not the seriously lacking sequels), so this should be right up his alley.

Alright, that's come good news...

I guess I am somewhat interested with Beattie's addition... as long as this is not the G.I. Joe version of Street Fighter with Van Damme.

*shudder*

If they decide to keep going with this non-sense about Brussels and international whatchamacallit! Then I will end up boycotting this movie on pure principle!!!

And what is Hasbro thinking? Allowing these fools to disgrace an American Icon! GI Joe isn't just a cartoon, comic, and some toys! It is the foundation of American pop culture! GI Joe's toy line and such doesn't survive because of people outside of the U.S.!! It is due to the devoted fans who grew up watching it! Heck, even my own children are watching the episodes I grew up on! Why, because it is about American servicemen who they want to be, kicking the crap out of a bunch of terrorists!!

Just because of the current global political situation the world is in, they want to change it! Come on now! If we where to be politically correct about every movie made, have the movies that come out Hollywood would be about some other country!! So why do it to GI Joe!!!

I will stop now, before I go on complaining about this, and having a book here!
