Variety reports that Daily Show anchor and comedian Jon Stewart will host the 80th Annual Academy Awards on February 24th of next year. Stewart also hosted the 78th Oscar ceremony to mostly positive reviews in 2006. Stewart commented,
In terms of ratings, Stewart's ceremony in 2006 attracted 38.9 million viewers, while Ellen Degeneres was watched by 39.9 million the following year.I’m thrilled to be asked to host the Academy Awards for the second time because, as they say, the third time’s the charm.
