News > Stephen Chow's latest has a new name and street date

Written by John Lichman

Kaiju Shakedown confirms the name–we think–and release date for Stephen Chow's latest film, just not the plot.

The Hope, which we linked to promo photos under the working title CJ7, will be released on January 31st, 2008.

The plot is still anyone's guess, but we can confirm three things: Chow plays a poor man, probably has a son and aliens are involved.

And there will be laughter. And exploitable CGI.

"Stephen Chow’s son is played by a 9-year-old girl called Xu Jiao. It is said that Xu Jiao is the lead actress in the movie."

His son. 9-year-old girl. What. The. Fuck.

Was there not a single 9-year-old boy on that @#$&%ing contiinent to play the part of, um, a 9-year-old boy?!?

Stephen Chow makes very entertaining movies, and I've seen a lot of what he has done - and multiple times. But dude, Stevie-Boy, we don't need cross-dressing 9-year-olds on our hands, especially when you damn near shave their heads. Got some kind of sick fetish for the freakish alien-head Natalie Portman look? Bad Chow, bad! And I'm not talking about this greasy, slimy cheeseburger I'm wolfing down right now, either.

Well maybe all those brats were a bunch of Jake Lloyd wannabes. God knows that asshole couldn't act for shit. Or maybe Chow is seeking to show the validity of female children seeing as how its habitual to abort females in China. It wouldn't' be the first time he supported something in his movies. Either way, who cares? As long as the kid doesn't act like total crap like Jake Lloyd.
