Christian Slater and Cuba Gooding, Jr. will star in an action-comedy called "Lies & Illusions" directed by Tibor Takacs. Where have you heard that name before? Why, that's the 53-year-old Hungarian director behind "Mansquito," now made famous in a bit by comedian Eugene Mirman. The screenplay by newcomer Eric James "centers on a novelist being hunted by a spy who believes the writer holds millions of dollars in diamonds stolen by his dead fiancee" (Variety).
The cast also includes Sarah Ann Schultz, Christa Campbell, Al Madrigal, and Lochlyn Munro. I'd say this could be a big mistake for Slater and Gooding, but Slater's coming off "The Ten Commandments" and Gooding's "Hero Wanted" just made its straight-to-DVD premiere. So… business as usual, I guess.
