Back in October, it was reported that Brandon Routh would be playing Dylan Dog in a feature film adaptation called "Dead of Night," directed by David R. Ellis ("Snakes on a Plane"). The latest from Variety is that the "Superman Returns" star is still on for the lead, but the production has taken on new director Kevin Munroe (last year's "TMNT").
"Dylan Dog" was originally an Italian comic book series created by Tiziano Sclavi in 1986. It has since gained a worldwide following and has been translated into 17 languages. The character is a private investigator who becomes involved with the world of the undead. The screenplay for "Dead of Night" was provided by writers Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly, who wrote the screenplay for "Sahara," the second biggest bomb that an Oppenheimer has ever been partially responsible for.
Ashok Amritraj of Hyde Park will produce alongside Platinum Studio's (not to be confused with Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes) Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.
