News > Real "Kryptonite" Discovered

Via Reuters:

Scientists in Serbia have found a mineral that shares the same chemical makeup as kryptonite, the fictional mineral from "Superman" comic books. The mineral, made up of sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide, was found to be nearly identical to kryptonite when the scientists did an internet search.

'"We will have to be careful with it - we wouldn't want to deprive Earth of its most famous superhero!"' the "hilarious" geologist Dr. Chris Stanley said of the discovery. Guffaw.

Though the new mineral shares the same chemical makeup as kryptonite, it's not made up of large green crystals…but white powder. And despite the connection, the scientists are STUPIDLY not naming the mineral kryptonite - some bonehead named it Jadarite instead.
