News > Queen Latifah, Wanda Sykes to Destroy a Comedy Classic

Variety reports the saddest news of the day: namely, that Queen Latifah and Wanda Sykes will star in a remake of the Steve Martin/Lily Tomlin classic All of Me.

Well, maybe it wasn't a classic, per se, but it was pretty damn funny to see Steve Martin internally fight for control of his body from Lily Tomlin. But how is producer Adam Shankman planning on ruining what was otherwise a servicably entertaining comedy?

Well, firstly, both leads will be played by women. This is more or less completely self-defeating: the original was funny because half of Steve Martin's body was controlled by a spoiled, rich woman, while the other half was still Steve. Genuinely hilarious physical comedy ensued, not to mention some fun internal dialogues between the male and female portions of his mind.

Secondly, both roles will be played by the two most irritating women in showbiz short of Fran Drescher. To be totally honest, I don't think anyone in their right minds can understand why Wanda Sykes currently has a career. She's hideous, she's annoying, she's condescending, and – worst of all – she's unfunny. Queen Latifah isn't as bad, but did you SEE Bringing Down the House?

Eugh.
