Unless all I have heard is totally wrong, you are not understanding one little part of this.

The 501st isn't the name of the group that is protesting, it is the name of a die hard group of star wars fans (http://www.501st.com/) who volunteered to be in the movie as extras since they really bought into the project (their reason) and all have costumes that look accurate to the star wars movies (weinstiens reason). Now many of the people protesting may be in 501st Legion, but that is not the only group doing so.

True, they may not have seen the movie, but many of them local to where it was shot are actually in it and don't want to be a part of something they didn't sign up for (and their fellow squad mates who were not in it support them in that).

There are a lot of people who are excited about Superhero Movie since it is actually getting some good reviews in some places I have seen, but I would imagine the threat of boycotting Superhero Movie is the prelude to more boycotts being arranged of movies aimed at similar audiences

I think the term "role model" get tossed around a lot these days, but after watching this clip I think it is safe to say that Clive Owen is a role model for all of mankind.
