News > Potential for Serenity Sequel?

Written by David Morgan

Alan Tudyk, who played the character "Wash" on the short-lived Joss Whedon series Firefly and in the feature film Serenity, recently talked with Moviehole about the potential for another chapter in the Firefly/Serenity canon. Said Tudyk:

They had to put [the new DVD] out because they’ve been selling out of the other one and so Universal’s like ‘So, let’s do another one’. And now… there’s now a chance there’s going to be another movie.

Everybody in the Firefly crew – and that includes the ones who died in the movie – are excited about the prospect of doing another.

Tudyk talks about the possibility of the sequel going straight-to-DVD. While we typically associate straight-to-DVD releases with low quality, if the original creative powers behind the show are on board, it makes sense from Universal's point of view. The first Serenity underperformed in its theatrical release, but their DVD sales have been remarkably strong.

Could they bring back Walsh somehow? I love Alan Tudyk and it hurt when he died. :(

Well i bet there is more than enough fanbase support for another firefly/serenity movie.
On the other hand Joss Whedon has declined to make another one just half a year ago.
That being said: Get off your asses and bring that project to life.
I bet there is at least one filmwad-editor that would love to see a new flick with Nathan Fillion.
