Just in case you needed more reason to ignore the upcoming video game adaptation that has been in development hell as far back as anyone can remember, it now appears that Paul WS Anderson (of Resident Evil and Alien vs Predator fame) will now be directing Spy Hunter.
Variety reports that Anderson will co-write the film with an as-yet-unidentified writer, in an effort to really flesh out the story of a government superagent with a car that can transform into a speedboat. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been attached to this film since its inception (he even starred in the video game adaptation of the film, which, thanks to delays, had to come out before the actual movie) – it is unknown whether Anderson's involvement means for The Rock's casting.
Anderson's films are somewhat decent popcorn fare (I actually liked the first Resident Evil flick), but they're also pretty ridiculous to begin with: if you give the guy even more fodder for insanity by handing him the rights to a transforming sports car flick, who knows what madness might be unleashed upon cinema audiences?
