No Country For Old Men is a really good movie. I enjoyed it a lot. Josh Brolin is excellent as the cowboy dude who finds a butt load of money out in the dessert. Tommy Lee Jones is spot on as the grizzled small town sheriff and there is this other guy who looks a lot like the older brother on that Raymond sitcom.
His name is Javier Bardem and you’re going to be hearing his name a lot because I’m betting that he gets a best supporting actor nomination for this. He plays a total crazy guy, killer type with a wicked bad Page Boy haircut. It’s so heinous but totally awesome. It’s like he’s daring you to mention the hair. So he can kill you.
Anyway, Brolin is a sort of down on his luck Vietnam vet who, while hunting around in the dessert comes up on the remains of a drug dealer shoot out. It’s bad. Dudes are dead all over the place, i mean they even shot the dogs. It’s a blood bath. Brolin pokes around, takes a couple of nice guns from the victims then, BAM! he stumbles on the drugs and the loot. Lots of both. He only takes the cash though and high tails it home.
Money like that is going to get found. Crooks with that kind of skrill also have the resources to find it and that resource is played by Javier Bardem. I don’t know much about Bardem which sort of helps the role. He seems like he really might be this, kill at will type. I’ve never seen him before so, outside of the fact that he’s in a movie how do I know he’s not the real deal? Get it? His anonymity gives credibility to the role.
So he’s all over Brolin’s ass. No matter where he goes Bardem follows. He’s like that biker dude in Raising Arizona. He will not be stopped. Not quite as over the top though but that haircut really stretches the limits of good taste. Brolin’s no mark though. He’s a Vietnam vet, two tours so he has some idea about how to defend himself. He’s not on Bardem’s level though. That guy is a killing machine. He walks around with this air compressor device that they use to slaughter cattle and he pops dude’s heads and motel locks at the drop of a dime.
This is a really good movie. Go see it. Like yesterday. You know? Josh Brolins has had a pretty good year. He was in Planet Terror, which was awesome. He was in American Gangster. He was great in that and now he’s in this. Good year. He really could get an Oscar nod for this. For American Gangster too really. He stole the show as the dirty detective.
Good stuff. I give it an A. The Coen Brothers always come out with interesting stuff. This is for sure there best flick since Lebowski and in some ways is better then Lebowski, really though nothing is that good and it’s unfair for anyone to make the comparison. For any other filmakers out there this would be their best movie. By far. For the Coen’s though, it’s like second, maybe third behind Miller’s Crossing but that’s a whole different can of worms right there.
Well, if you liked this and would like to see more boring junk like it then head on over to www.iseerobots.com and there’s tons nore of it….

Good Stuff. I give this review an A+. I can not believe how much I liked this review. Josh Brolin was almost as good in this movie as he was in Thrashin', cool.
For real dude, this writing is so juvenile, one of my favorite reviews I have ever read though.
