I suppose it is about time for an Arthur Ashe biopic, isn't it? Actor Nick Cannon told MTV recently that he and Will Smith are working together on making a movie about the tennis legend's life. Smith will produce while Cannon will play the lead. No director has been attached yet, according to Cannon, but they're hoping to start production some time in 2008.
"[These] types of films take a while to get prepared,” explained Cannon, who said previously that the script deals with Ashe’s tennis heyday and stops short of exploring his final years.
So they're not going to bother with the whole dying of AIDS thing? That's sort of a big part of why he's remembered. Aside from his tennis, he's important because he brought greater awareness to the illness. Weird.
Cannon can currently be seen in his improv show Wild 'N Out and soon will appear in the remake of Day of the Dead.
