Variety reports that Fox Atomic will begin filming in Altanta on October 9 for Revenge of the Nerds, a reimagining of the 1984 cult comedy being produced by McG and his Wonderland Sound & Vision partner David Manpearl. Kyle Newman directs.

Christopher Marquette (Fanboys, The Girl Next Door) and Kristin Cavallari (MTV’s “Laguna Beach") have been cast in the film. Marquette will play the leader of the nerds, and Cavallari a sorority girl alongside Katie Cassidy (upcoming Dallas). Also newly cast in the film are Dan Byrd (The Hills Have Eyes) and Efren Ramirez (Napoleon Dynamite).

The studio also starts shooting on October 11 in Los Angeles for The Comebacks, being directed by Tom Brady.

Carl Weathers has been cast as a rival coach opposite David Koechner (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy), who plays the lead football coach. Also aboard are Matt Lawrence (Mrs. Doubtfire) and Brooke Nevin.

The film is about the losingest football coach in history and his attempt to redeem himself by leading his team of misfit players to victory.
