For those who don’t know, “My Kid Could Paint That” is a documentary about a 4-year-old girl who became famous for painting abstract works of art, only to be “defrauded” on 60 Minutes, only to be “vindicated” later on.

The actual story is the dream of any documentarian. That being said, the film itself was pretty well directed, but there were some obvious holes. When the authenticity of the girl’s art comes into question and people think her father painted everything instead, the question is never raised “Are these paintings still good if he had painted them?” My answer is, probably yes, though the “story” of the paintings is different and the value (for most of the previous buyers) would sharply decline.

But I think anyone who has the chance to see this film should. It’s one of the best documentaries I’ve seen in a while.
