News > Michael Moore to Make Sequel to "Fahrenheit 9/11"

Just the other day I was talking about how rare sequels to documentaries are. I suppose there's the "7 Up" series and the Maysles Brothers' "The Beales of Grey Gardens" (a sequel to "Grey Gardens"), but now the true blockbuster of documentaries is getting its very own follow up. Documentarian and provocateur Michael Moore announced recently that he'll be making a Part 2 to his phenomenally successful anti-Bush testament "Fahrenheit 9/11." Variety refers to this new film untitled at the moment, but Moore's homepage refers to it as "Fahrenheit Strikes Back," and the LATimes says the project is known in some circles as "Fahrenheit 9/11 1/2."

The release date at this point is set for some time in 2009, after this Fall's presidential election. That's probably for the best for those who share Moore's politics, considering none of his documentaries have spurred the changes he's called for.

Overture Films and Paramount Vantage are the studios behind the film instead of The Weinstein Co., who backed Moore's relatively unpopular health care documentary "Sicko." Hopefully this new "Fahrenheit" doc won't just be two hours of Michael Moore saying "I told you he was no good."
