News > Michael Bay vs McG

Michael Bay took a direct shot at Terminator: Salvation director McG on his blog last week:

“We’ve seen the great year end movies, and watched the upcoming clips of the upcoming summer fare. We’ve seen certain movies coming out even try to duplicate Transformer size robots in their ads. Please, come on.”

Everyone who has seen the new Terminator: Salvation trailer thought the same exact thing, I mean the sounds the enourmous Terminator was making even sounded like Blackout in the opening scene of Transformers.

Any who… McG responded to Bay's comments in a discusion with Comcast:

“It bothers me to tell you the truth. Ultimately, our large robots have nothing to do with the Transformers robots,” McG said. “I say with respect, giant robots have been the theme of film for a real long time. So we want to do everything we can to create separation. Our film’s about T-800s and the Marcus character and the Connor character, and this, that, and the other. So, to have people have a problem with that wouldn’t be working for us so we want to make sure there’s separation."

Make Love not Robot War you guys!  It will all be ok…

wow michael bay i feel so bad that someone is copying off you. oh wait, you got the entire transformers idea from a magazine. just like every other movie you do that involves no creative thinking of your own. here's an idea michael bay, make an movie that's not a sequel, remake, reboot, or already has a storyline set up by comics, graphic novels, or historical backround.

not saying McG is a saint, i just think Michael Bay is going to be the downfall of cinema as we know it.

It does seem odd that Bay would have something to say towards T4, and the quote above is not even the full quote..

twozerotwoxx - you criticize Bay for making a sequel based on a comment possibly towards a movie making it's 3rd sequel
based on the criteria put forth, no sequel, remakes, reboots, storlyines from comics, graphic novels, historical background you have cut out an extremely large portion of excellent directors (Fincher, Coppola, Cameron, Scorcese, Cronenberg, etc)

I enjoy Bay films, he makes good 'popcorn' flicks that I enjoy watching, and his box office record show I am not alone, so he's hardly the downfall of anything, audiences will let him know when he's past us by.

Could be worse - Bryan Singer or Brett Ratner could be directing these movies. I wish Michael Bay could remake Superman Returns, X-Men, etc, etc every other thing B&B wrecked.
