Mekhi Phifer ("E.R.," "Dawn of the Dead") will star and produce "Hunter's Moon," a thriller about a stock broker who takes his teenage son on a weekend hunting trip, only to have the offspring kidnapped and the father be forced to do the criminals' bidding. The film is based on a graphic novel by James L. White, originally published in a five issue series.
Andrew Cosby and Ross Richie of Boom are producing with Phifer and Ronnie Warner of Facilitator. Has anyone read this graphic novel? It only came out last year, and this is the first I've heard of it. It sounds like it has potential if handled properly, but we all remember the popularity and subsequent backlash against "The Blair Witch Project," which could easily have an effect on how this film is perceived and received.
Speaking of "The Blair Witch Project," Scott Tobias of The AVClub posted an article about it just yesterday that's well-worth a read.
