An article showed up yesterday in the Sydney Morning Herald that mentioned Australian director George Miller's troubles with filming the $200 million-budgeted Justice League movie. Oddly enough, the paper called the project "Justice League Mortal." This is the first we've heard of a weird title change like that, but maybe that would just be the international title. Who knows?
The article also mentioned that actor Hugh Keays-Byrne would be in the film, though they declined to say who he'd be playing. Now, Ain't It Cool says they have exclusive information on who the burly sixty-year-old will be playing: The Martian Manhunter (aka J'onn J'onzz). Hugh appeared in Miller's Mad Max as "Toecutter," but hasn't had much of a film career since.
I'd recommend taking this announcement with an enormous grain of salt. For one thing, last we heard, Warner had pulled the plug on the project. Though now with the strike over, things may be back on track. Secondly, Mr. Keays-Byrne seems a little too, well, old and portly to play the otherworldly superhero. We'll let you know as this story develops.
