Magnolia Pictures has picked up the rights to Bigger, Stronger, Faster, a documentary focusing on the numerous steroid scandals that have besmirched the face of professional sports. The film was directed by Christopher Bell, and became one of the most talked about films at Sundance. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bell explores both the scandals and the overall "American obsession with winning at all costs." Bell's film comes partially from personal experience, as two of his siblings are/were users of performance-enhancing drugs.
Produced by Alex Buono, Tamsin Rawady and Jim Czarnecki, the documentary also features interviews with such athletes as Barry Bonds, Floyd Landis, Carl Lewis and Ben Johnson.
Magnolia head Mark Cuban said of the film, "It's informative, fascinating and hysterical – all the things a movie about steroids should be."
Bigger is expected to hit theaters later this year.
