Guillermo Del Toro is booked solid through the year 2017. That's not a typo... Del Toro has projects lined up for the next 8 - 9 years.
First, he has 4 projects lined up to direct for Universal, including remakes of Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Slaughterhouse-Five, as well as an adaptation of a Dan Simmons novel titled Drood, which deals with Charles Dickens becoming a possible murderer after a catastrophic train crash.
Then there's the most anticipated film on his list, The Hobbit, which he's devoted to for the next five years, and has already started writing in collaboration with Peter Jackson and others.
After that list, Del Toro is expected to work on an adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness, and as for Hellboy 3... we'll have to wait and see how it finishes overseas before making that assumption.
So let's recap: The Hobbit, Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Slaughterhouse-Five, Drood, At The Mountains of Madness...Hollywood directors WISH they had that kind of a line-up.
