News > Kunis Joins Wahlberg in Max Payne

Written by David Morgan

Mila Kunis (That '70s Show, Family Guy) will star opposite Mark Wahlberg in the big screen adaptation of the video game Max Payne. According to Variety, Kunis "will play an assassin who teams up with the title character to avenge her sister's death. Wahlberg plays Payne, a cop haunted by the tragic loss of his family who finds himself in the thick of a conspiracy when he investigates a series of murders."

John Moore has been attached to direct the screenplay written by Beau Thorne. Julie Silverman and Scott Faye are producing.

Moore previously directed the remakes to Flight of the Phoenix and The Omen, as well as Behind Enemy Lines (not to be confused with Enemy at the Gates). None of those films really connected with critics or audiences. Does Payne have any potential or are we looking at another Hitman-type scenario?

I don't think this has the potential to be a good movie! I mean Marky Mark as Max Payne, not brilliant casting! Plusits a computer game adaptation and there arent many good ones out there in the first place! If you ask me I'm a bit specticle about this film!

First, it's "skeptical" not "specticle". Next, Mark Wahlberg hasn't been Marky Mark for a loooong time, and he's done a good number of movies that have been great. I think he's solid. Last, Max Payne was a video game, but a great game with a great story in a film noir style. It totally has the potential to be a great film, as long as it keeps the same tone as the game, dark and dirty. In my opinion, there aren't ENOUGH film noir style flicks, Sin City was awesome, can't wait for the sequel(s?), and I'm definitely looking forward to this. I hope they do some cool bullet time stuff.
