Though they cite no source, Comingsoon claims to have heard that Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang on Smallville) will be playing Chun-Li in the new film Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li. We'd all heard the rumors of a Chun-Li based Street Fighter adaptation, but it's surprising that they would cast an actress with virtually no fighting experience whatsoever* though she does look the part (which is to say she is brunette and somewhat Asian). Andrzej Bartkowiak is directing from Justin Marks' script and filming is expected to begin in March.

*Upon further research (reading her IMDb biography) I've learned that Kreuk actually has a purple belt in karate. While for the sake of a dumb action movie that's probably good enough, one would think for an authenticity to the film, a purple belt just wouldn't suffice.
