News > Kevin Smith wraps up Red State screen play

It's always nice to pull up the ole Slash Film and find out that Kevin Smith has wrapped up the screenplay for his upcoming horror flic Red State. Good news, right?  Smith says that it's the shortest film (and contains the least amount of dialog) he's ever penned, which judging from the protracted nature of some of his recent screenplays, sounds like a welcome relief. Check out Smith's triumphant quote here:

“Not to say there’s no dialogue; just that there’s about half as much as I normally write,” Smith revealed on his website viewaskew.com. “Unlike any other script I’ve ever authored, to say the least. Very fucked up. If I’d never said anything about it in the press and put it out under a pseudonym, I doubt anyone would ever connect me with it. Can’t wait to shoot it.”

Sounds pretty promising from where I'm standing. No concrete details on cast or production schedule, but Smith alumnae Jaw Mewes and Jeff Anderson are rumored participants.

Anyone else feel that a horror flick from this man may be the next best thing?
