Mike Judge ("Office Space," "Idiocracy") has recruited Jason Bateman ("The Kingdom," "Juno") to star in "Extract" a new comedy that the former will be writing and directing. According to Variety, the film will explore "what it's like to be the boss when everything seems to be shifting around you." Bateman should have a good idea of how to play that role after having played CEO Michael Bluth on the greatly-missed "Arrested Development" for three years.
John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky will produce the film with Judge under their Ternion Productions banner. Probably a substandard essay will be written in a few months about how Mike Judge sympathy has gone from white collar corporate rebellion ("Office Space") to upper management over the past decade, but I'll be sure to not be the one to write it.
