Who is Jon Harris? That's a damn good question.The original Descent offered a slightly unique take on the horror genre, bringing a band of women together under the guise of a traditional slasher flic. Much of the film's virtue is due to the stellar direction provided by Neil Marshall. According to Slash Film, Marshall will not be directing the second iteration of the movie, leaving the duties of the helm to his chief editor, Jon Harris. Harris will make directorial debut on Descent 2. Check out what Marshall had to say about his involvement, and his faith in Harris as a budding director:

“I will not be directing The Descent 2, but I will be overseeing every aspect of the production. There’s nothing to oversee yet, though, as the script is currently being written. My Descent editor Jon Harris will make his feature directing debut with the sequel, and I can’t think of a better man for the job.”

As usual, we have little in the way of concrete details, save for the information revealed above, but we'll keep you appraised as best we can.
