Joe Dante, director of such classic horror flicks as "The Howling," "Gremlins," and "Piranha," is set to direct an indie horror film called "Bat Out of Hell." According to Variety, "the movie centers on a red-eye flight from L.A. to New York during which hijackers confront some monstrous cargo."
The writers are Scott Swan and Drew McWeeny (of Ain't It Cool News). Variety says that the pair have previously collaborated on a few projects called "Dread," "Mortal Kombat: Devastation," and a remake of "Race With the Devil." Warren Zide, Jerry Daigle, Michael Arata, and Ray Markovich will produce this film as shooting gets underway later in the year.
