Ugh, what a morning.
Bad news first: Joe Carnahan is ending–rather, "pausing"– his rather hilarious blog. Part public relations, but also because those dastardly reporters are harassing his reps about the possible replacement for Javier Bardem in Killing Pablo that Carnahan is looking at.
Oh, this leads to the second thing: Carnahan wants/wanted your advice. Does he put his energy into Killing Pablo and go abroad, or stay close to home and work on White Jazz?
From the blog:
There are two incredibly strong options that we're closing in on right now.
One of these options reached out to us, after the Clooney news broke
and we were all a little stunned and at the same time, thrilled that this
cat would be considering WHITE JAZZ. Now normally, these types of situations
lend themselves to a lot more pessimism than optimism. However, I firmly
believe that one of my two choices are going to slot into this picture and
we're gonna keep cranking.
If I'm wrong. Pablo awaits.
Part of the choice, after scanning over earlier entries, seems to weigh heavily on George Clooney's own involvement. In an even more insane move, Carnahan published BOTH scripts online. (Uh, we don't endorse any of this illegal stuff, so go take a look here if you want to read them.) Man, thank goodness there are still some pure, unadulterated crazies working in Tinseltown. Otherwise, it'd really be boring.
Also, Joe: our advice is worthless, but we'd say go with White Jazz. Chances are your film will still be better than Oliver Stone's Medellín Escobar
