News > Jason Reitman to Direct "Up in the Air" Next

"Juno" director Jason Reitman has potentially chosen his third feature film to direct, an adaptation of Walter Kirn's novel "Up in the Air." Reitman's father Ivan optioned the film back in 2004 along with Tom Pollock under their Montecito banner and Jason wrote 30 pages before reading Diablo Cody's teenage pregnancy screenplay and the rest is history.

According to Variety, "Story centers on a ruthless human resources exec whose only joy in life comes from the prospect of notching his millionth frequent flyer mile, a goal he pursues with zeal as the rest of his life falls apart because he is constantly on the road."

This will likely be released by DreamWorks with Ivan Reitman, Tom Pollock, Joe Medjuck, Jeff Clifford, and Hard C's Daniel Dubiecki producing. Reitman is two for two as a director so far, and he's currently producing the Diablo Cody-written, Megan Fox-starring "Jennifer's Body." The man's on a roll.
