Shot back into popularity by its multiple references in Edgar Wright's "Hot Fuzz," "Point Break" has earned itself a sequel, directed by "Speed" helmer Jan de Bont. RGM Entertainment and Essential Entertainment will executive produce.
If you're concerned that the quality of the sequel will suffer because it isn't under the care of director Kathryn Bigelow, you'll rest easy knowing that screenwriter W. Peter Iliff is back to finish what he started over seventeen years ago. Plot details and casting decisions are being kept tightly under wraps, but The Hollywood Reporter says that the sequel will start up 20 years after the disappearance of the criminal surfer played by Patrick Swayze. Keanu Reeves played the FBI agent assigned to bring Swayze's bank-robbing, surf-riding gang in. The film will shoot in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
Excited yet? That was a rhetorical question; of course you are.
