According to the New York Daily News, Director Peter Segal is courting Jake Gyllenhaal to play the Captain Marvel character in his upcoming Shazaam! New Line Cinemas is thought to be moving towards building a franchise on the magnitude of the Superman and Batman dynasties, and appears willing to spend upwards of $200 million to make it happen. Let's hope that the infusion of cash + a-list stars doesn't make the studio lose site of the fact that they're actually in the movie making business…Superman Returns, I'm looking in your direction…
