News > Hollywood ramps up production due to threat of strike

Written by: Josh Karp

The fear of a strike is a dangerous thing. It causes the average man to do above-average things…or something. According to Variety, Hollywood appears to be tossing green lights left and right, ok-ing projects that should probably never see the light of day. Why are they going buckwild? Strike fears, friends. A number of Hollywood guilds and unions are set to lay down their tools/pretty faces next July. Ever the forward thinkers (the White House could learn a thing or two here about foresight), Hollywood brass are attempting to stockpile a host of films that could see them through the strike season without a hitch at the box office. God forbid Paramount loses a week's worth of sales…TV networks are also beginning to feel the heat, planning for a extra dose of reality, news, and sports shows that don't rely on actors from "the guild." Yikes….next summer could be absolutely terrible.
