I never saw any of the Halloweeen movies. That’s not true. I saw the one with Busta Rhymes and Tyra Banks. It wasn’t very good.

I only recently go into horror films. I think that after watching lots of movies you sometimes have to open genres that previously didn’t interest you just to keep it fresh. It’s cool because there are all these movies that you haven’t seen. Good movies, like Halloween. The original. This is Rob Zombie’s Halloween. I haven’t seen the other one yet but will within the next couple of days. It got bumped up my Netflix Queue. It’s in second behind Blades Of Glory. I missed that one when it came out.

So, Halloween is really good. Zombie is a really talented horror film maker. One of the best working today. If he keeps improving like he has so far then he could end up as one of the greats. As a lifelong fan he understands how to make a movie that fans want to see. From what my boy Greg told me Halloween, the original was good but that it lacked a back story. so Zombie gave the movie one. The entire first half is about a young Micheal Myers and his messed up family.

The kid who plays Myers, what’s his name.. Hold on.. Daeg Faerch. The kid is totally greasy and disturbing. he has Kurt Cobain hair and this pudgy face. He’s gross. After watching him for a few minutes it’s not hard to imagine him as a fully grown serial killer.

His family sucks especially his dad played by the sometimes awesome William Forsythe. He’s white trash and crippled some how, and totally awesome. He curses and yells and is funny as hell. I mean. he’s being horrid and saying really awful things to everyone but dude is funny. A great comic mind. He should hit the road. Make some snaps on the standup circuit.

Sheri Moon is his mom. His stripper mom. I love me some Sheri Moon. Sheri is totally hot. I love the way that she talks, all hyper and whiny. We get a pretty good strip scene out of her. Sheri works the pole. Lady got some moves. Wasn’t she a stripper before she met Rob? I think so but it doesn’t really matter.

Kid’s family is a mess and they mess with him. At school bullies give him hell and generally it really sucks to be a young Mikey Myers. It’s way worse for him then it was for you and you though that you had it bad in school. No wonder he gets all crazy and violent.

One day things set him off and he loses his shit. Starts killing everyone. It’s horrible. A bloodbath. People bleed a ton in this flick. Every body winds up in an almost literal pool of blood. The violence is realistic. I mean, not totally but it resembles a real life massacre way more then other movies like this that I’ve seen. Greg mentioned The Zodiac. Remember the scene where the couple at the beach gets stabbed up? It’s like that. Kind of gross.

After the stabbing Myers winds up in the booby hatch under the care of Dr. Samuel Loomis played Malcolm McDowell. He’s pretty good in this. He does his Malcolm McDowell thing. With the British accent and everything. They work together for years but Myers doesn’t get better he gets much worse. Surprise! After awhile he stops talking all together. Silent, for 15 years. That’s a commitment.

He escapes and which point the real Halloween movie starts. Myers kills some dudes and gets back to his childhood home, digs up the knife that he he used on his family and goes to work. This isn’t a surprise or anything if you’ve seen the original. Apparently this is like the start of that one. That’s what Greg said. I think. That’s how I remember it anyhow.

From this point forward it’s killing and running and scaring and all the good stuff. I guess what’s going on is that he’s looking for his baby daughter or something. She’s played by Scout Taylor-Compton I don’t know if you remember her? A few years ago she had some TV show or something and she ran away from home? She was like 15 or something. Everyone was looking for her. Let me find a link. Hold on. HERE!!! Read that. Being a teen star must suck. They all go crazy. Imagine being the bread winner but you’re like 13. Pressure.

Scout’s 18 now and pretty cute. She wears glasses and cute little low top Cons. Good stuff. Teenage runaway. Her face is kind of wide and the glasses make it look wider but she’s still a nice looking young lady. Let’s hope that she can keep her shit together.

I’m recommending this for horror fans. I guess if you wanted to see it then you’ve prolly already seen it. Prolly on opening night. It’s gory but I think you can make it through if someone’s trying to drag you to it. It’s not going to give you nightmares if your of normal constitution.

Here’s some pics of Scout from the premier. She really does have a wide face.
