Doesn't seem too likely, does it? Well, that's the word from IESB. They say one of their secret sources got wind that George Clooney opted out of White Jazz "not only due to scheduling conflicts but also because he is looking for a blockbuster." Actually, more precisely they're claiming that Clooney has been offered the role of Duke, though whether or not he's considering the part is unclear. As you can see, it's far from a confirmed casting decision.
If Clooney's too busy for White Jazz (the screenplay of which I'm reading right now, and so far it's pretty good) how in the world would he have time for something as epic and time-consuming as a starring role in GI Joe? Plus, he's got his own Leatherheads to work on, the Coens' Burn After Reading, and Wes Anderson's The Fantastic Mr. Fox. He's a busy man. So keep fishing, Paramount. Don't count on the Cloon.
