Seasoned French filmmaker Francis Veber will direct an adaptation of his own successful play A Pain in the Ass starring Richard Berry and Patrick Timsit. Veber's play was brought to the screen once before, in 1973 by director Edouard Molinaro, under the title L'Emmerdeur or A Pain in the A….

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Veber's classic hero Francois Pignon is back in this story about an unlikely friendship that develops between a professional killer and a suicidal screw-up." The producers at TFI International are hoping for another worldwide success like Veber's previous films The Closet, The Dinner Game, and The Valet. Shooting begins in March, and a French release is expected in December 2008.
