We've got our hands on the first look at the new X-Files movie. Does anyone out there really care? Oh, and to all you true fans of the show you're going to freak out when you read what Chris Carter has to say about the film.
USA Today reports that the film will no longer be focused on the long-running "mythology" plotline. What does that mean? We don't have aliens that live among us and we are part of a colonizing effort. "We spent a lot of time on (the mythology) and wrapped up a lot of threads" when the show went off the air in 2002, says Chris Carter, creator of the series and director of the new movie. "We want a stand-alone movie, not a mythology conspiracy one."
Is this movie 5 years too late? The X-Files made for a great TV Show, and the movie was okay in my opinion. I'm just not sure if people really care for Mulder and Scully anymore. The film hits theaters everywhere on July 25.

You are right about the tardiness in making this movie. It may have lost a lot of the push of having the show's popularity at it's peak behind it, but fuck it at least fans will get one more Mulder and Scully adventure. I'm there.
