USA Today reports that Speed Racer's car is not a literal pussy wagon on a Kill Bill sort of scale, but it'd be impossible to cruise around in this thing and not pick up chicks.

 

 

According to producer Joel Silver, the Wachowski-directed update of Speed Racer will have a "retro-future" look, and will follow the exploits of Speed Racer (played by Alpha Dog douchebag Emile Hirsch), his girlfriend (Christina Ricci), and his older brother, Racer X (played by Mattthew Fox). Speed's monkey, Chim Chim, will (thank the lawd) be played by a real monkey.

 

The film will be a departure for the Wachowski brothers – where the Matrix trilogy and V For Vendetta were dark, bleak affairs, Speed Racer will truly be a family movie through and through. Though star Hirsch says that Racer will still have "a lot to say about remaining independent and thinking for yourself."

 

A bitchin' ride, real monkeys and positive moral messages. What more could you want?
