News > Favreau Talks "Avengers"

Though not overtly involved with the upcoming "Avengers" movie in any way, "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau had a thing or two to tell USAToday about Marvel's adaptation of the famous super-group. Mainly, Favreau claimed that the line-up for "Avengers" would likely be made up of Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man, and Iron Man, adding "I would love to see that."

Sure, that's a great line-up, but why not include the Wasp? True, she's not an exceptionally popular heroine and she's not likely to get her own solo film like the men of the group, but she was as integral a member of the Avengers as any character was through the years. I suppose one good way to rectify the lack of a solo movie for her would be to introduce her as Janet Van Dyne during the "Ant-Man" movie and have her acquire her superpowers at some point during the actual "Avengers" movie.

Any opinions? I suppose if the writers just don't know what to do with her there's no point in tacking her on. But the right thing to do would be to flesh that character out so that she can stand toe-to-toe with the men of the group who, regrettably, are innately much more powerful than she is.
