News > Disney Wangslaps Sony With Two-Page POTC Variety Ad
Written by Anthony Burch
Defamer reports that Disney officially stuck it to Sony today, as they took out a full two page ad in Variety bragging about the fact that
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End had the biggest worldwide opening of all time, grossing $404 million.
The decision to run the ad seems kind of childish, like getting chosen as Student of the Month in elementary school and wearing a large orange sash around campus for the next few weeks to prevent anyone from ignoring all your greatness. But when you're right, you're right: POTC demolished Spider-Man 3's opening weekend grosses.
I'd be more enthusiastic about this news were it not for the fact that both films were incredibly disappointing in some way or another, but it remains nonetheless entertaining to watch two major motion picture studios cockslap one another for financial superiority.
